The final saxophone lesson in Yamaha music school

I just finished my final saxophone lesson in Yamaha music school.

For this, I asked my teacher to play one of my favorite songs so, we played

'I don't wanna miss a thing ' by Aerosmith.

It sounds great even we play it by an alto sax and a piano.


For last 1 year and 6 months, I've learnt about saxophone with the teacher - Amir.

I appreciated what he's given me and taught me.

I'll keep learning and playing a sax. It's not an end.

Actually, I want to buy a new saxophone soon. lol.

But, it's too expensive.... T_T still considering.....

선생님께 악보 받고 한번 따라 부를 땐 몰랐었는데, 노래를 직접 들어보니 장난 아니구만.
When I got a sheet from my teacher, I didn't know how difficult it is.
But, once I listened to the song... I got a shock and started thinking. Can I do it?

원래는 Alto Saxophone 버전인데, 곡이 워낙에 유명해서 그런지 다양한 악기의 버전이 있음.
The original song was performed by an alto saxophone.
There are a lot of versions which are performed by various instruments because it's too popular!

근데 난 어제 처음 알았음. 하하핫.
However, I got to know it yesterday. :-)

곡이 난이도도 있고, 협주에도 좋아서 그런지 정말 많은 사람들이 불렀더군.
It's difficult and very good for concerto so that many people have played it so far.

그냥 단순한 악보보기 프로그램이 아니였어!
It's not a just simple viewer of music sheet!

악보도 그릴 수 있고, 재생도 가능하고, 아주 많은 기능이 있다.
It has a composition feature and playable midi and more. a lot!

이걸로 그동안 못했던 이조도 완료.
Thus, I can rearrange key of some songs which I couldn't do it.

부모님께 들려줄 '아내에게 바치는 노래' 적절한 키로 이조했다. A Major 에서 G Major 로.
I rearranged the key of "The song to my wife" - (very old song in Korea). From A Major to G Major.
I'll practice for my parents. This song is my father's one of favorite songs.

나야 Key 잘 모르지만 걍 고르기만 하면 지가 잘 바꿔준다.
Regardless my lack of knowledge for key signature, this program makes me do it very easily.

역시 사람은 문명을 이용해야해.
Yep~ IT makes people happy.

Betting by music teacher

어제 색소폰 레슨이 거의 끝나갈 무렵.
At the end of the Sax lesson yesterday,

선생님이 던진 한 말씀.
My teacher told me...

올해 (2010년) 12월에 야마하 뮤직 스쿨 학생들이 연주회를 개최할 건데
거기 참석해 보는 건 어떠냐고.
How about you would join the Yamaha music school contest in December this year?


아!!! 선생님 이런 무리수를 던지시나요.
Huh??? That's too big risky thing!!!

저는 아직도 음악은 1% 도 모르는 초보 중의 왕 초보인디요.
라고 했더니,
So, I said "You know me. I still don't know music even 1%."

한 곡만 죽어라 연습하면 되니까 가능하지 않겠느냐고.

The teacher said, "I think you can do that because you need only one perfect song."

선생님 이건 선생님께 도박이에요. 일단 9월 까지 미친듯이 연습할테니,

그때 봐서 판단해달라고 얘기해 놓았으나,

So, I said, "You bet too much now. Alright. Can you make a decision whether I can or not in about September so that I will practice my Sax very hard."

이미 선생님은 곡까지 정해버리고 연습시킬 기세.

But, the teacher already started to choose a song to make me practice.

아직 시간이야 많긴 하지만... 일이 커지게 생겼다.

Of course, there are lots of time to practice... but, I'm afraid that this is getting bigger.

어떻게던 되겠찌요.

Well... it would be .. something anyhow. :)

Keep training a saxophone

벌써 색소폰을 배우기 시작한지 6개월이 지났다.
It's already 6 months from the day I started to learn how to play a saxophone.

어떤 이들은 6개월이면 겁나게 잘 부른다던데,
Some people can play very well even in 6 months,

난 음악에 음자도 모르는 상황에서 맨땅에 헤딩한거에다가, 애초에 재능이 없는 듯 음악쪽엔.
To me, I didn't know anything about music and even I think I have no talent about music.

정말 서서히늘고 있다. ㅋ
My skill is improving really slow. :)


그래도 몇몇 곡들은 나름 완주가 가능한데, 톤이 좋지가 않아서
Fortunately, I can play a couple of songs completely. But the tone is not good.

최근에는 계속 톤 좋게 만드는 데 주력하고 있고,
So, I've been concentrating to make my tone better in last couple of weeks.

다양한 스케일을 연습하면서 핑거링에 주력하고 있다.
Also, I'm training a fingering with playing a lot of scales.

꼭 버파할 때 부신을 쓰기 위해, 회잡풀을 하기 위해, 백대쉬 회피 앉아대쉬를 하기위해
밤낮 연습하던 시절, 그거와 비슷한 상황이다. :)
A long time ago, I practiced Virtua Fighter a lot of times to master some special skills and movements.
I feel this saxophone fingering training is pretty similar to the training of Virtua Fighter.


버파도 어느정도 밥벌이를 할 때까지 2년이란 시간이 걸렸었는데,
It took about 2 years to master Virtua Fighter skills,

하물며 악기를 6개월만에 마스터 한다는 건 말이 안되지. 암.
I think it's impossible for me to master a musical instrument in 6 months.

천천히 즐기면서 하다보면 언젠간 부끄럽지 않게 부를 수 있겠지.
Well... I think I can play it very well sometime... if I practice it continuously.

지금 연습하는 곡은 Dave Brubeck 아저씨의 Take Five.

들어보면 아~! 이 곡 할 정도로 유명한 곡이라고 하는데, 나는 전혀 몰랐다. 크앙.
I heard this song is very popular, but I hadn't known it until my teacher introduced it to me. :)

MIdnight Saxophone

어제 퇴근하고 너무 피곤해서
I was so tired after leaving the office,

운동하지 않고 그냥 10시 쯤 자버렸다.
I went bed with without any exercise at 10 PM.

그러다가 아침인줄 알고 벌떡 일어났더니 12시. 으악.
I suddenly got up with feeling now is morning!!, however, it's just midnight.

다시 자려고 1시간 동안 뒤척이다가 GG 치고 나와서 색소폰을 불렀다.
I tried to sleep again but I couldn't did it for a hour. I gave it up and played saxophone.

왠걸. 이거 왜이렇게 잘되.
Strangely, I can play it well!!!

소리도 부드럽게 나오고 평소에 틀렸던 부분도 막힘없이 술술술.
I can make the sound softly. In addition, I can play without mistakes i usually did it.

게다가 '그대와 영원히' 는 한번도 안틀리고 완주. 첫번째 완주 곡이 되겠음.
In particular, I can play a Korean song 'With you forever' without any faults. wow. It's my first song which I complete it from begin to end.

자다 깨서 악기를 하면 원래 잘 되는 거임???

아 그건 그렇고 이제 언제 자냐.

Britain's got talent 2009 에 나왔던 Julian Smith.

Soprano Saxophone 으로 Somewhere (West side story) 를 연주했는데,

He played 'Somewhere' (OST in West Side Story Musical) by a soprano saxophone.

와... 진짜 잘했다.

Wow.. awesome.

우리나라 뉴스에서는 Susan Boyle 만 보여주느라 정작 Julian 은 한번도 보질 못했었다.

I couldn't see any articles about him in Korean newspapers which all commented only Susan Boyle.

성격도 좋아보이고, 한 가정의 착실한 아버지로 잘 살아온 듯.

He looks good characteristic, and lives as a good father for his family.

결승에서 큰 임팩트를 보여주질 못해서 아쉽게 3등에 머물지만,

Unfortunately, he didn't show a huge impact so that his final grade was 3rd.

이걸로 나름 유명해져서 Kenny G 도 만나고 여러곳에서 인터뷰도 하고 뭐 나름 잘 된듯.
But, he got famous and then he could meet Kenny G. And also he got a lot of interviews from media.

YAMAHA Music School

I signed up the Yamaha music school yesterday.

So that, I'll start to learn a saxophone!!!

Actually, I went to there last month.

But, there was no place to sign up.

I think a few teachers available here but lots of students are here, too.

In case of Korea, there are lots of classes, and we can join it anytime.

So I've waited for a space, finally I got it.

A beginning day is 3rd April. It is also too late than korean style. :)

But I can wait. hahaha.

The class is once a week, cost is SGD$ 98 a month. Not frequently, not cheap.

But there is no option which I can choose. 

I also bought a mouth patch, a humidy cleaner, a pouch for a mouth peace. 

Although it costs a lot, I feel so good~

Got a Saxophone!

색소폰이 한쿡에서 왔다. 크하핫.

왜 한국에서 왔냐면,

쉘머나 야마하 같은 비싼 녀석들을 살 수가 없어서, (난 초보니깐)

중국, 대만 산을 보고 있었는데 그나마 우리나라 브랜드인 영창께 있었다.

그래서 인터파크에서 구입 -> 누나한테 배송 -> 싱가폴로 배송.

이런 과정을 거치면서 드디어 내 손에 Get!!

색깔은 블랙이다. 남자는 블랙! 디자인은 맘에 든다. 영창 로고 빼고 (이거 어케 안되나 -0-)

그리고 본체는 저렴한 놈이여도 마우스 피스랑 리드는 좋은 놈임.

모든 스펙을 적어보면,

Saxophone : YoungChang  YAS-310BL (Alto)

Mouse Piece : Selmer S80E

Reed : Rico Alto Medium Soft.

나중에 실력이 늘게 되면 하나씩 하나씩 업그레이드 하겄지. :)

포장을 뜯어보고 조립을 하려고 하니깐, 아무런 문서가 없다. 영창 이놈들 뭐야~

그래서 인터넷에서 조립 동영상을 검색!

알기 쉽게 잘 설명 되어 있다. 예음악기 기억해 주겠어.

근데 난 마우스 패치가 안들어 있음. 아 영창 도대체 뭐야~~

어쨌던 조립하고 함 불어봤다.

쉬이이이익~ 뿌우웅~ 쉬이이이익.  (바람소리 / 색소폰 소리 아주 잠깐 / 바람소리)

... 고장인가? 불량이 많다고 하던데...

단지 내가 부를 줄 모른다에 모든 걸 걸고 싶다. 여기서는 A/S 도 안된단 말이지.

몇일 전에 학원도 알아봤었는데, 자리가 없다.

색소폰은 배우는 사람이 적다 보니 (수요) 선생님과 반도 많지가 않다. (공급)

게다가 싱가폴은 여러가지 여건상 이런 쪽이 정말 부족하다.

빨리 제대로 배우고 싶다. 그래야 내 색소폰이 불량이지 아닌지도 체크를 해보지 -0-;

그러다 보니 학원에 자리 나기 전까지는 혼자 해야한다.

그래서 약간 검색! 운지법 잘 나온 녀석을 발견.

거기가 본사였다니!!!! 헐퀴. 뭔가 허접해 보였었는데 말이지.

NHN Games 일 때 샀으면 더 싸게 살 수 있었지 않을까 하는 생각을 아주 잠깐 해봤다.
